What special care should be taken with laminated surfaces? |
To clean the surface, use a cloth or wet sponge and a mild soap or detergent. Coffee and tea stains may be removed with a cloth and a brush with soft bristles. Repeat as many times as necessary. If a stain persists use baking soda and water, applied with a brush with soft bristles. Most stains should be removed by rubbing lightly between 10 and 20 times.
Even though baking soda is a mild abrasive, excess rubbing or the use of unnecessary force may damage the decorative surface. The presence of saline solutions in some cleaners will damage any laminate. If cleaner is spilled on laminate, wipe and rinse immediately. Such things as hair, cloth and perishable foods can cause permanent stains. Clean dye stains immediately with dish washing liquid or a multipurpose detergent.
Never place hot plates or cups on unprotected laminates. Extreme heat may cause cracking. Also don’t use oven cleaners on unprotected surfaces. Wipe softly with water a good number of times. Oxidized removers contain harsh chemicals that can cause quick permanent damage. If a spill occurs clean all residues immediately. Clean carefully with soap and water and rinse a good number of times. Bathroom cleaners also contain harsh chemicals that can cause quick permanent damage. If a spill occurs clean all residues immediately.
Clean carefully with soap and water and rinse a good number of times. Steel, wool and other similar products will damage the laminate. They should not be used for cleaning purposes or stored in the drawers. |
